My name is Ynja Mist and I'm born in 1996. I grew up in Kópavogur, Iceland, but moved to Copenhagen, denmark in 2017. In December 2015 I graduated from Fjölbrautaskólinn í Garðabæ, majoring Visual Arts, and minoring Fashion design.
I have been into arts ever since I can remember myself. When I was little I sat and drew for hours while other kids would be playing with toys. In 2008 when I was 11 years old I held my first exhibition, and sold probably about 15 paintings over the summer. I was dedicated and wanted to be a successful artist already.
As an artist Im always exploring and trying to find new ways. Im always learning and improving. I am experimental.
I exert myself to raise awareness for environmental issues, pollution, global warming and materialism in modern society. I get a huge amount of inspiration from the ocean, and water in general. Water is life, life is water, and in my work I create tension between the pure beauty of water and the ugliness of pollution and destruction.
