About Me
My name is Ynja Mist and I'm born in 1996. I grew up in Kópavogur, Iceland, but moved to Copenhagen, denmark in 2017. In December 2015 I graduated from Fjölbrautaskólinn í Garðabæ, majoring Visual Arts, and minoring Fashion design.
I have been into arts ever since I can remember myself. When I was little I sat and drew for hours, I drew in all my schoolbooks and started experimenting with lots of different forms of art. In 2008 when I was 11 years old I held my first exhibition, and sold probably about 15 paintings over the summer. I was dedicated and wanted to be a successful artist already. In the years after, I started making jewellery, sold that on the street and on the internet, then I started painting tiny paintings on peoples nails on the street, sometimes I got other kids to my room to paint their nails, and sometimes I made special orders for jewellery. I always wanted to start early, and I held my first "real" solo art exhibition in 2016 when I graduated from school.
In 2016 - 2018 I tried to live off of selling my Art, with some other work on the side, I held exhibitions in Copenhagen and Iceland. Then my life took a big turn in late 2018, when I got a completely unplanned opportunity to open cake shop, so in the following years my life was all about cake business, we're talking like 70 hours a week, so as you would guess there has not been much time to nurture the artist and the art. Very few pieces have been made during those years (2018-2021), but they are really special to me and they will be for sale soon.
